Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of HouseSync and sets forth prohibited activities and content. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.

By using HouseSync, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

Prohibited Activities

You may NOT use HouseSync to:

Illegal Activities

• Violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation
• Engage in or facilitate fraud, money laundering, or other financial crimes
• Infringe on intellectual property rights (copyrights, trademarks, patents)
• Distribute illegal content or materials
• Evade taxes or violate financial regulations

Harmful Conduct

• Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users
• Stalk or invade the privacy of others
• Discriminate based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation
• Share content that is defamatory, obscene, or pornographic
• Promote violence or self-harm
• Engage in bullying or targeted harassment
• Impersonate others or create fake identities

Spam and Messaging Abuse

• Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam)
• Use the invite feature to mass-message people who haven't consented
• Send commercial or promotional content without consent
• Abuse SMS or email notifications for marketing purposes
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent messaging limits
• Add people to households without their knowledge or consent

System Abuse

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts or systems
• Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Exploit vulnerabilities or security weaknesses
• Scrape, crawl, or mine data without permission
• Circumvent rate limits or access controls
• Use automated tools (bots) without authorization
• Conduct denial of service attacks
• Reverse engineer or decompile the Service

Account Violations

• Create accounts with false or misleading information
• Share account credentials with unauthorized parties
• Sell, transfer, or rent your account
• Create accounts to evade previous bans
• Operate multiple accounts for the same household without authorization

SMS Messaging Rules

When using SMS features, you must comply with all applicable laws including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and carrier guidelines:

Permitted Uses

HouseSync is designed for:

• Managing personal and household tasks, budgets, and inventory
• Coordinating with family members, roommates, or tenants you have a relationship with
• Tracking home maintenance and services
• Sharing household expenses with known individuals
• Receiving legitimate notifications about household activities
• Managing rental properties (for landlord accounts)

Content Guidelines

Content you create or share must NOT include:

• Illegal content or content that promotes illegal activities
• Sexually explicit or pornographic material
• Content depicting violence, abuse, or harm
• Hate speech or content promoting discrimination
• Personal information of others without their consent
• Confidential or proprietary information you don't own
• Malware or malicious code
• Misleading or deceptive content

Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in:

• Warning: First-time minor violations may receive a warning
• Content Removal: Offending content may be removed without notice
• Temporary Suspension: Account access may be suspended pending review
• Permanent Termination: Severe or repeated violations result in permanent ban
• Legal Action: We may report illegal activities to law enforcement
• Liability: You may be liable for damages resulting from violations

We reserve the right to take action at our sole discretion. Decisions regarding violations are final.

We may update this AUP from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of HouseSync after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
